I'm thankful to the artistic development and community I found in San Francisco. Needing a reference for her own painting, I helped her out with this scene, and I wanted to paint it myself. I remember the light approaching from both sides--the warm glow of a heated apartment, and the drab light from the window, blanketed by the rolling fog of the outdoors.
